Cynthia Nixon’s unusual bagel order causes a stir on social media
Cynthia Nixon may call herself a “progressive” candidate running for New York governor, but it’s her radical bagel order that’s raising a few eyebrows.
On Sunday, the actor-turned-New York-governor-hopeful stopped by Zabar’s, a Manhattan gourmet grocery store known for their bagels, and ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, lox, red onion, tomato, and capers.
“That’s what I want — a full load with cream cheese,” she tells the deli worker.
The unusual bagel order was captured on video by Gothamist, and many on social media quickly responded in horror at the odd lunch combo.
“Oh, those Democrats! This is worse than putting ketchup on your (well-done!) steak,” wrote J.D. Landis on Twitter.
Others have referred to the bagel blunder as “criminal” and “an abomination.”
In response to the bagel shaming, Nixon told reporters, “That’s my go-to brunch/breakfast … it’s pretty delicious… Don’t knock it til you try it.”
