A New Hampshire teen who was kidnapped and held captive for close to a year says she was forced to wear a shock collar and was sexually assaulted.

In an interview with ABC News that will air on 20/20 this Friday, Abby Hernandez talked candidly about the nine months she was held captive by her kidnapper, Nathaniel Kibby.

Hernandez was 14 years old when she was nabbed while walking to school. Her family reported her missing on Oct. 9, 2013.

Nine months later, Hernandez returned to her Conway, N.H., home. In between that time, the girl was locked inside a storage container where she was held against her will, abused, drugged and sexually assaulted by Kibby.

Her kidnapper eventually let her go. Arrested a week after Hernandez’s release, Kibby pleaded guilty in 2016 to charges of kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and other crimes. He was sentenced to up to 90 years in prison.

“He said, ‘You know, I’m thinking of something a little more humane for you to keep you quiet. I’m thinking of a shock collar,'” Hernandez told ABC News reporter Deborah Roberts. “I remember he put it on me and told me ‘try and scream.’ And, I slowly raised my voice and it shocked me. He said, ‘Now you know what it feels like.’

“He told me, ‘Call me Master.'”

Hernandez described what life was like inside the storage container. She said there were “screws and wires” on the door. The teen said Kibby told her if the doors were ever “busted open” that “the room would catch on fire.”

“He said if somebody kicked open the doors that I would go up in flames, basically,” Hernandez said. “There was a (security) camera that kept on blinking and I thought he was watching me.”

According to People, Kibby held Hernandez in a container about 48 kilometres north of her hometown.  The kidnapper let the girl go in July 2014 after he believed cops would nab him in an unrelated counterfeiting case.

Nathaniel Kibby is escorted out of the Belknap County Superior after pleading guilty and being sentenced 45-90 years in prison for kidnapping, rape, criminal threatening and witness tampering Thursday May 26, 2016 in Laconia, N.H.

Hernandez said she learned of Kibby’s identity after he gave her a cookbook while in captivity.

During a court appearance after his guilty plea, Hernandez told Kibby she forgave him and thanked him “for giving me my freedom back.”
