LEASHED TEEN: Man who reportedly led girl around leash as she drank vodka arrested after fight with cops
CRANSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island police responding to reports of a Facebook video of a man leading a 17-year-old girl around on a leash as she was drinking from a vodka bottle have arrested the man but not because he kept the teenager on a leash.
Police say 25-year-old John McEvoy was arrested Aug. 2 after police witnessed what appeared to be a drug transaction and because he fought with officers.
McEnoy, an aspiring rapper who goes by the name “Mack Sauce,” pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest, simple assault and obstructing an officer.
The Cranston man posted about the incident on social media, including a defence to accusations of him being a pedophile and flaunting his arrest report.
As for the leashed girl, McEnoy’s girlfriend, police say she told them she wasn’t doing anything against her will, and they couldn’t prove she was drinking alcohol.
McEvoy tells WLNE-TV his interactions with the girl were consensual and she was drinking water in the video.
State child welfare officials say the girl is safe.
